Will to Survive

I went to the bathroom to wash my face.
There was a baby fly in the sink, in my place.
Normally I’m one to carry them out.
But I don’t like flies so without thinking.
I turned on the water full force.
He was the tiniest little guy.
He was swept to the lip of the drain.
But as I watched he clung on
And on and on.
I watched as the water, water boarded him.
In that moment
I was struck.
This tiniest of guys and his huge will to live.
I turned off the faucet and grabbed some tissue.
And absorbed him up.
I looked closely holding my breath.
And to my surprise he began to stir.
I now had a mission to save this little warrior.
His will to live so extraordinarily hopeful.
I was so impressed with this little guy.
I had to make sure now he had to survive,
I opened the window screen and placed him and his tissue savior upon the wind.
He dried, he stirred and eventually he flied.
I was so impressed by this tiniest of guys and his huge will to survive.
