Wildflower
Odds stacked against her
Ever seeing the light of day
Obstacles placed to deter
Clearing hurdles along the way
Tucked tightly in the soil
Beneath an unyielding rock
Wouldn't delay her toil
Mother Nature mocked
Her faith, thick and stubborn
Winning small victories every day
At times her eagerness would burn
She shoo'd those thoughts away
Relentless to the resistance
Facing one defeat after another
Gradually making distance
To the world, she would discover
Something so flimsy and green
Miraculously came to power
Defying reason like never seen
She became a wildflower
Her richly colored petals
Victoriously embracing the rays
Honorably she settles
To live out the rest of her days
She has become inspiration
To those who tread the sidewalk
A display of dedication
Brilliance in place of caulk
She wants others to understand
The blood sweat and tears
Nothing was placed in her hand
She pressed on with faith for years
