Wild Dreams

WILD DREAMS I’m fighting it off But the lids are heavy The backside of reality My worst fears in isolation And nothing to be done Old Fido could help But he’s asleep Feet in motion twitching Brain just a puddle with buzzing flies When you wake in the morning glad to be rational Something is deep-stalking Something too secret following Following daily Just out of reach God help me I’m going Not even a cold sweat There is this damn tune on the tube Trying to bolster up a one-star Then ----------------------------------

thanks for what you said on my limerick, Daver. Apparently Mr. "limerick" man did not deem it good enough in his contest!

Enjoyed this one...I especially enjoyed the part about Fido dreamin' and twitchin'...Our dog will cry in his sleep like he is haviing a horrible nightmare..I guess he must be dreamin' of a thunder and lightin' storm of which he is so afraid..Glad that I chose this one to read..Sara

This one is very eerie, Daver. Twilight Zonish. Maybe that slasher guy from Nightmare on Elm Street is invading your waking moments too! good one. Andrea

You sound like me, tossing and turning all night, jealous of the way some people can tune out the world and fall asleep like Fido. This poem is very well written -- great images and clearly conveyed thoughts. Best to you, Diane

We often have trouble sleeping, Daver, and I can see why you would be jealous of Old Fido as you watch his feet twitch while he dreams. Instead of struggling to sleep, I do what you describe here -- turn on the tube ever so softly and eventually we drift off. Very interesting poem, Daver. I, too, have "Wild Dreams" often. Love, Carolyn
