Wide Awake!

Restless, sleepless night....staring up at blackness
I roll and thrash the mattress, body revved by my tireless mind
Angst filled dreams awakened me, no sleeping now
Why this spell thats cast on me? This isn't nostalgic revelry...
the forefront has come to let it be, peacefully
but then in those dreams, I torture me

The many fractured fragments, I'll leave discarded...
heavy-hearted throwing askew, them this way and that
damage control is never taking inventory of these pieces
mind control is stepping gracefully through them 'til pain ceases
but it never does...just as terse as it was
Only appears in these latest hours as I've let my guard down

Mostly aware my life is haunting me
Do I care my mind is taunting me?
Those who left, left scar tissue footprints in their wake
So now I lie awake....
Wishing they had front row seats to the images flickering
over the movie in this head....Director, take your bow!!
