Why's It So Hard To Let Go- of What's Never Been Mine

Livin' ain't easy
When you wonder what this life could be
If we only
Had the chance to live out our dreams

I keep hoping
And pretending that someday I'll be
As important to you
As you've always been to me

Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine
I still live with this burden
That lays heavy on my mind

I keep asking the same question
While getting no reply
Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine

I'm stuck between what I believe
Could be Heaven or could be hell
Some days I guess I deal with
This purgatory well

If I had the chance to let go
I'm not sure that I would
Cause how would I say goodbye
And give up on all that's good

Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine
I still live with this burden
That lays heavy on my mind

I keep asking the same question
While getting no reply
Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine

I can't stomach all this hurt and pain
While feeling emptiness inside
A man can't live on hope alone
So I keep swallowing my pride

What ain't dying are these feelings
They stay bottled up inside
They've been there for over half my life
And they'll be there till I die

Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine
I still live with this burden
That lays heavy on my mind

I keep asking the same question
While getting no reply
Why's it so hard to let go
Of what's never been mine

While we both walk upon this earth
I guess we still have time
