Why You Need Me Because
You need me because
I have my own spanners,
And I am always on the lookout for loose nuts,
I also know where the best bolt holes are.
You need me because
I can be that spanner in the works,
When vested interests take over the floor,
And others head for the door.
You need me because,
I graduated from the University of life,
When my parents were on the faculty,
And took that responsibility seriously.
You need me because I have lived long enough,
To learn from my mistakes,
I have few vested interests,
Now that I am semi-retired.
You need me because,
I know how to cut through red tape,
Have the time to stay on hold,
Until it is my turn to speak up.
You need me because,
I know the consequences when loose nuts go unnoticed,
When there is no one with a spanner in sight,
And all work grinds to a halt.
