Why Shop At Mom and Pop's

Well hello sir, good morning ma'am, I hope you’re doing well today. Come on in and feel this fabric, see how wonderful these clothes lay. Go ahead and try this suit on , now isn’t that simply divine. This color does highlight your eyes, but have you seen this brand-new line. This is such a fantastic choice, oh my, and would you look at this. Our new sale started just today, and these items are on the list. I know that you're a veteran, so let me give you that discount. Thank you so much for your service, and this is your total amount. I am grateful for your purchase, won’t you please come back any time. I'm sorry that you had to wait, so long here in our checkout line. So few are shopping local now, they all buy from the internet. I had to let some workers go, and cut the pay of those that’s left. I'd rather see a cashier's smile, and I will hope that you would too. Better than make your selection, now from the following menu. Click here and add this to your cart, continue on to the checkout. Your order has now been confirmed, we'll send you something there's no doubt. As long as you have some plastic, they will take from you what they can. Until they've stolen each dollar, and there's no more small businessman. After that you won’t have a choice, they'll send you what they think you need. You'll just keep on getting something, because there’s no end to their greed. You might think you're saving money, by buying all your things online. But you're just delaying the end, we'll all pay the bill in due time.

True words, my friend. Having owned several businesses over the years, a shoe store, travel agency, and several multi-level distributorships; I know the blessings of personal service and the sadness in the passing of the torch, so to say. I try to buy local as often as I can but have been hooked on the ease of purchasing somethings online. Our country was built by thousands of people that wanted to be in business for themselves. The personal touch is gone in today's world. Blessings, Bill

What was that old movie about the future where the only business that survived the corporate wars was Taco Bell? Seems like we're headed in the wrong direction sometimes.

I appreciate this because I’m one that don’t shop online. I enjoy shopping at my town’s shops. Good one, Jerry :)

I would much prefer to shop on Main Street, but sadly I live in a rural area where Main Street is an hour away. So I admit, I am forced to shop online. And thus, have become part of the problem. Thanks for dropping by. Have a great day.

The small merchant is a beleaguered 'race,' I'm afraid. Amazon et al. is so much easier: Click, click makes the world tick... End of an era, that you've written about poignantly. I'm gonna miss it too...

A person cannot afford to shop at local markets unless they're looking for handcrafted items. If we don't have money to burn, we have to shop online, or at the big box stores like Costco. It is truly the end of an era for the small business but that still makes me sad. Thanks for dropping by. Have a blessed day.

Thanks, Deb. You know what they say, great minds think alike. Now there is this online company called Temu, they sell crap so cheap that it is hard to resist if you are on a tight budget.

Well said, Jerry. So many good lines to describe that situation. There's so many delivery trucks they probably look like ants from a satellite. "After that you won't have a choice" such a great line, but no one cares...yet.

Thankis David. I must admit though, I too am guilty of online shopping. But it's only because I live in a very rural area, and I believe buying at places like Walmart etc. is just as bad as online. Thanks for dropping by my friend. Have a good one.
