Why Poets Should Write Uplifting Poetry - Exhibit A
An unexceptional person in every way
was Jeffrey Jonathan Jay
His smile as bright as a mostly cloudy day
he liked to be called “JJ”
School wasn’t for him, he didn’t stay
got a job in a fast-food place, ‘Taco-Ole’
Drifted from town to town, slept on piles of hay
by thirty, his hair was turning gray
Met the love of his life, a girl named Mae
their affair lasted one whole day
After making love at night, she silently wandered away
poisoned the gin in his flask, what more can I say
