Why not

Why not get caught up?
With the everyday chores, I fought,
especially household ones, I thought.
I have gotten old, and the effort came to naught.

Why not start the date scene since I’ve become a widow?
But the loss has made me a hippo.
I am set on my way in my interests and passions, ditto
mindset. I love my space, peace, and quiet, kiddo.

Why not learn to adapt?
Exploring new hobbies for the handicapped.
My phone, a piece of technology, was lost to a woman inapt.
Lost at what buttons to push. A joke—I’m trapped.

Why not seek rhythm and balance
or maintain personal interests of my talents?
With vertigo and a phobia of people, I’m always unbalanced.
I cannot even try to replace and hang a new valance.

Why not? I can go on
a list that goes on and on.
I yawn.
Ditto.

Why Not live life fully? Your 'why not' poem was inspirational and sincere...a delightful read.

Nicely expressed, I experience many of the same issues!

Oh this is a really interesting read. Sorry you deal with all this. Because of MY weird problems, I just lay around writing or watching TV all the time

Your, "Why Not" is a powerful write with a great ending. It can be very hard yet many do find love again. I had a friend that found love on a cruise ship and married. (Both were in early 80'ssssat the time.) Hugs... "Good Luck" I did "WHY NOT Enter A Contest." Have a lovely day writing away............

I’d like to think there’s someone for everyone. But dating after 50 in my experience is like trying to find the least damaged shopping cart at Walmart lol. You however may be better at meeting people than I am. Enjoyed your poem and was engaged. Good luck in the contest.
