Why I Write Poetry

I am clear we each have our own reasons. Maybe to be a hit, perhaps to be accepted? It really has nothing to do with the seasons. Most assuredly, painful to see your poems neglected. I came here to leave my family a legacy. I am not here to be a trophy nor a contest winner. The family legacy is of paramount significance to me. Only to pen that which makes their souls glimmer. When they read it, and they like it, is all that my soul doth need. To expect more, is a waste of my precious energy and time. Then, that poem to me,is a real hit, indeed. To expect, anything else, is a poetic paradigm!               2/1/2021                  ~ 2 ~

I probably write for different reasons. My family really could not care less, so I doubt they will be reading me when I die. But i do have one sister who really likes my writing! I hope you are appreciated by YOUR family at least, for you are amazing

Alk we do is put down on paper what our heart and soul are saying and we share that joy with others Our families will have something of us when we go and indeed the whole world. Tom

Tom, I like that you point out our thoughts extend beyond family.)) hopefully our words will make others smile, laugh, cry, or be joyful. We might be gone but our hearts remain online forever. Pangie

This struggling poet also writes to leave a legacy. Poets are usually not well-known 'til after they pass and then maybe the kids will publish their works and get rich - ha! My motto is: "I write not to become rich but for others, their lives to enrich!" Bob H
