WHY I WRITE

I write to ink my legacy to tell my story in words & lines to leave behind a piece of me long after I run out of time. I write because the African Helicon once spoke to the small & unsure child I was. Its poems held a map a way I will find my true self. I write to heal & to question & to see to turn nonsense into meaning again. Some days I write just to lessen the burden to let my heart spill on pages. I write not for the world to cheer but for one lost soul to find a verse & a word & a tiny spark that says your story still matters.
