Why I Write

Why do I write? I write, I think, to learn more about myself And to feel more connected to the world. I write to try to make up for some old past mistakes And try to heal old wounds. I write because I have stories to tell and information I want and need to share. Most of all, I write because I am, at heart, an entertainer, And I want to entertain with my pen the way I used to do on stage, And, in my own small way, help to make the world a kinder, happier place. If I can accomplish some or all of these things, Then maybe one day I'll become as well-known As that other most famously prolific writer "Anonymous".

This is one that I think all poets and probably countless others can relate to and feel an affinity toward. We are all striving to become the best version of ourselves and leave something of excellence and high value to others. Well written, Jim.

Thank you, Deb. My stage experiences covered just about every genre: classics (Shakespeare and Greek), musicals, dramas, American and British comedies, farce, melodrama, etc. My career lasted more than 30 years, 15 of which were as a professional actor. If you haven't already done so, I'd invite you to take a look at my "My Life Upon the Wicked Stage" here on PS.

I did a similar themed poem on my second post. Hey I looked you up. Not much info but did you have a small part in a movie as a mailman? Any bios available for us to check out?

OMG, Tom. That movie was eons ago and a "small part", indeed. It was called "Swamp Rats" when I worked on it, but was released as "The Soggy Bottom Gang". And, no, it was not my ticket to stardom...Thanks, anyway, for the memory.
