Why I Can'T Get Over Him

No matter how hard I try.
It never seems logical to others
That he could blow my mind.
His secrets are safe with me,
Heaven forbid other women
Will seek him out to play
Based on something I’ve explained

Like at that first instant stroke
of my virgin violin
he played me without pain.
Pure pleasure
each and every time
after,
One memory
drives me
insane

I knew from his first exhibition of genius.
He’d always be the best I ever had.
And it is his great knowledge of me
That helps me hold on
Until I see him again…

So while they say I’m condemned if I don’t
I know
I’m condemned if I do.
For I’m absolutely sure the next one’s
Million dollar effort
Will not compare to the pennies
at the bottom of his old shoe,

Because when he teached
And took the lead
and told me exactly where to go…
And then
when I thought joy was over
he once again brought me
home.
I was so
Happily
Continuously
Joyfully hurt.

Won’t even lie and say
I’m sad
he wanted to do all the work.

And he was not lazy!
in the least
when he did what he did

And he did it with such zeal
That he is the only man I want to feel.
And that is the one part of adultery
that is scaring me.
Along with the wrath of God.
Because I can guarantee
The next man will make me
Disappointed and sad
For my first was
Is
And will always be

the best I ever had.
