Why Don't You Stay

Listen to poem:
Written: March 29, for Robert James Liguori Contest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A wise anile saying sticks in my head, I've been hoping that you're unique, you said. You're not alone; you've just been sorry, I'm eager to meet you; I feel your image starry.  Whatever you wanted me to do, I would do, I pledge to support you every day, too. I worry, dear, as you must stay on track, And asking, will you kindly come back?  Honey, won't you please stay? It feels as if you've made up your mind to leave. Please, sweetie, do not go away, Never lose faith; continue to believe.    Darling, won't you please stay? Let's embark on a fresh start. I realize that you're in search of a way, We should have a sincere heart-to-heart.   I vow to support you without fail every day, So don't hesitate to let your emotions grow. Sweetie, won't you please stay? I will be here waiting for you; I won't let you go. You are both my friend and my healer, You're the only one who can mend my heart. You are the source of both pain and feeler, Smitten me, let me die, or beat me to start.   No thrill in delight, no glum in gloominess, Strange in the land, but just in your head. Unbiased of personal interest or spuminess, I'm ecstatic; I adore you and our hidden stead. Ask stars how is my conduct and pantomime, I dream around your whims and can't sleep. To what extent does anyone realize at this time? Only you matter in this instance, for me to keep.

Sotto, this is so much sorrow in your poem, but so much love. You are a friend and healer, that' s what everybody expects, the only one can mend my heart, difficoult when they left us. Anyway Sotto, this is something I walked through. Thanks for your nice way of remembering

SP, the leap of faith to love is often without reason or rational explanation. It's a real hurt when it gets going but then gets cut off. I wish I had understood all this when I was young and a bit impulsive. Slow is a good thing.

This is such a soulful poem. It beautifully summarizes the emotions and longings of a lover who badly wants the presence of the one he loves so ardently. He is ready to do anything for her. He fears she is going to desert him. At the same time, he cannot think of a life without her. "Only you matter in this instance, for me to keep." Can anyone bare his feelings of love in a better way? A great pronouncement of love. All the Best dear Lasaad!

An excellent take on the song.. This captures the raw emotion and longing of someone pleading for their loved one to stay. The repetition of the phrase "won't you please stay?" creates a sense of urgency and desperation, underscoring the speaker's deep desire for their partner's presence and affection.

A emotion filled dialogue between romantic hearts, my friend. Love exudes throughout this poem--splendidly done: You are both my friend and my healer, You're the only one who can mend my heart. You are the source of both pain and feeler, Smitten me, let me die, or beat me to start---Excellent!

This is so poignant and so touching, its never easy when we lose the one person who is a healer and friend to us in so many ways, i really love the way this flows and the emotions woven throughout this, i think i might like to write for this song too, i can see the lyrics, and how it inspired you to write such a soulful poem. And i must also highlight and praise your rhymes, you never fail to amaze us readers with your poetic skills, so on point! I especially love the ending! So mystical! FAV!

dearest Sotto--your poem was filled with heartfelt and soulful pleas. The words 'we should have a sincere heart-to-heart' were touching and filled with heartfelt desire to mend a fractured relationship. This poem also seemed like a romance poem when you say, "I dream around your whims and can't sleep...only you matter in this instance."Your poem is a creative & great response to the contest prompt. Best wishes with the contest. Wishing you a splendid evening & weekend, your poetess friend, Sara
