Why Do You Do That Pride Asked

Confidence gave me my smile Encouraging me to not use its full wideness Arrogance came by and spread it out to its full strength What’s a woman to do? I hid under my covers, afraid of both Come on out Confidence said, in that nurturing way Lifting me to heights of completion I had only dreamed before. People began commenting on my abilities and talents Arrogance came by, taking full credit, pushing me into a blender. Why do you do that? Pride asked. Where is the stop gap point? Having no idea, I let her push me around with guilt and remorse Until Arrogance came back and they battled to the death Which truly was the best way to get Confidence and I back together.
