Why Do I Need You Lord
WHY DO I NEED YOU LORD
Existence framed, for we do ask.
Why do I need you, Lord?
This catacomb. This human mask.
The emptiness is underscored.
You breathed first breath, into my lungs.
Why do I need you, Lord?
And later sent, dove-flaming tongues,
to breathe on me. My spirit soared!
You watched my thoughts. You showed me sin.
Why do I need you, Lord?
You gave me rules so I could win,
by claiming Jesus as my sword.
For you died, and did rise again.
Why do I need you, Lord?
At the right hand of God, You reign.
Our salvation bought by this accord.
When sorrow knocks me to the floor.
Why do I need you, Lord?
For my belief, will make me strong,
whilst tears, at night, can’t be ignored.
For You have made me passionate.
Why do I need you, Lord?
You also are compassionate.
This earthly sorrow thus explored.
Oh Jesus Christ, the lamb of God!
Why do I need you, Lord?
Dear sacrifice! These scars. I’m flawed.
Was doomed, until the lion roared.
And when this earth has passed away.
Why do I need you, Lord?
You will create the new earth’s day.
And this, You are my great reward!
