Why did I Become a Poet Poetry Contest

I didn’t become a poet by choice, but by accident On falling ill, I met my muse through sheer chance I have been drawn to nature and its myriad forms To celebrate that love through poetry is my stance Never I strained to voice my thoughts in verse Until poetry came at the appointed time When chosen, it came and gladly resided in me And now I feel so blessed and sublime All that’s alluring and lovesome meets my eyes And communes to me in profuse delight Which I turn into rhyme and rhythm To make the souls of poetry lovers ignite Poetry has now become a balm kissing my wounds An escape from the commotion and noise around It is a smooth glide into a sea of tranquility And a celebration of all beauty that surround.

It's so nice that poetry came to you. The same happened to me in 2000. Before that, I had only written a few funny XMas song parodies and short stories!

Dear sweet valsa! This resonates strongly with me too especially “ Poetry has now become a balm kissing my wounds An escape from the commotion and noise around” exactly how so many feel About poetry! I always say that, i dont write to impress but to express, sometimes i hide behind metaphors because while im expressing i dont feel comfortable with being too exposed, if one knows they know! But thats how it is. You are not just an excellent poet dear valsa but also a beautiful soul! I always love reading your work. Sending you light always

Your poems are full of charm and I love the ease when it comes to rhyme. It's my biggest downfall. Well done, dear Valsa.

So happy you became a poet and such a wonderful one.. Your poem beautifully captures the serendipitous journey of discovering poetry as a source of solace and inspiration. The opening lines reflect a sense of surprise and happenstance, as the poet recounts stumbling upon their muse during a time of illness. This unexpected encounter with poetry is portrayed as a turning point, leading to a newfound passion for capturing the beauty of nature through verse.
