Why Are We Here
I was so lucky to have found a writing nook,
A place to express my joy, sorrow, and pain.
I wear my heart on my sleeve, an open book.
My safe haven sheltered me from the rain.
Having a space to write has been good for me,
But these days it has not been what it once was.
Insults and name-calling is what I often see,
Why disrespect another poet just because?
I don’t agree with many, but still, I show respect
We are all different and we have different views.
But we shouldn’t be mean, that’s the disconnect.
All of this hateration is giving me the blues.
I stay because of my writing and my soup friends,
But I long for the day when it’s like it used to be.
Until then all that love poetry let’s raise our pens,
And write things that uplift and bring unity.
