Why Are There Stars

Why are there stars?
Or are they millions of fires in the sky
     That do not die?
Or are they souls of fireflies
      Flown out beyond our reach?
Or are they tiny windows
      To other places?

Why are there stars?
The stars are there
To make us ask if we are the only
The stars are there
To show how insignificantly we each shine alone
The stars are there
To show how important we all are together
That we are given stars to see

Why are there Stars?
I cannot say for certain
I wish I understood
I will watch them and try to learn, then
I will tell you
     Why there are stars
