Why Am I Here
So much hope, so many dreams
So much to do, so many things to see
Busy, busy, busy...
How to accomplish it all?
Brainstorm, make lists, prioritize
Make no small plans
Dream no small dreams...
But still, time is not infinite
Try this, do that
Live here, go there
See this, experience that
Yet life somehow gets in the way
Keep in touch with classmates
And friends from on the job
And those old neighborhood pals
How to stay close to them all?
Stop!
Halt!
Wait!
Consider!
Should life only be about me?
Only my needs and desires?
How about the needs of others?
Why was I put here?
Only for pleasure?
There's too much pain to buy that
So why? Why am I here?
Surely there are no easy answers
Surely I must find my own way.
Yet when all is said and done,
Enshrine my purpose in life this way:
Live by the Golden Rule
Do unto others
as you would have them
do unto you.
