Whole Again

You broke my love, my loyalty, my confidence and mind,
You left invisible wounds, broken, trauma and anxiety,
You told me I was imagining all the things you did, that it was my fault, I was to blame.
You ignored me when I cried myself to sleep, when you saw me becoming ill,
Withdrawn, silent, tense, unhappy,
Hitting rock bottom with only one way to go.

But then I found my strength, and painful step by painful step,
Managed to break free, undoing all that linked us together,
Then slowly rebuilding all that had been lost in the years of abuse,
Until whole once again and free to fly, love and live with happiness and peace, long awaited.

There is no pain as this and I am glad you found your strength to walk away.. Nicely expressed..
