Who Is Crying From Afar

You know her by her paper smile.
She stood by you only for the photos.
Perhaps she hid her pain even then.
Now she’s all alone in a faraway land,
ruining your perfect lives with her tears,
wondering if you’ve trodden on pebbles,
if you cry too, in the depth of the night.
