Who I Am In Silence

In this silence, I reflect on the way it used to be Dancing, laughing, when my strength emerged with sound But, music doesn’t always keep drumming away, playing And silence can bring to surface what may have drowned A quiet gift with a new chance to see every single part of me My heart beats slower, calmed by these soft breaths Without silence, I may have become lost in distractions Unable to find a place to be, a place to call home for me But, here is my safe place where I hold onto what I’ve found No need to speak within my comforting blanket of silence In my safe haven, I will see and I will know just who I am Heidi Sands 6/21/20 Placed 3rd in the Reflection in silence poetry contest.

Sometimes we need peace and quiet to reflect on who we are and where we are going in life - your quiet time was hard Heidi and we all felt for you - but i seem to recall it was one of Silent Ones poems where in a line of his verse he says that hardships strengthen the soul, - perhaps I'm wrong but I agree with the thought - you are one very brave lady my friend.
