Who Are We Now
I turned on the TV
flipped the channels one by one
watched a little CNN then FOX News
disillussioned by collusion and lie
assured that both had stretched the truth;
appalled at how republicans would not hear democrats
and how democrats slammed dunked republicans
as Trumpy Bear held the flag in proud perpetuity
yet condemning the rights of press and average citizens;
empty glazed faces looked on, obsessed with the bully rhetoric
content with the change that tears a united country apart
and I, neither right nor left, somewhere in between
looking for the honor, truth, justice, and America
of who we were meant to be.
