Who Am I

I'm a famous actress, folk flock to me like cattle. When I say jump, they say how high. I've always loved the spotlight as a kid, I was the outspoken one; I was never shy. I've been performing all my life; I was in school plays, I was the president of the drama club in middle and high school. Anything that involved acting and performing I was your girl. I have a husband, two kids and I have other family members that say they love me. A big house and more money than I can spend. But something is missing; I have folk around me, and I’m the loneliest I have ever been. On the path to my personal life and career of choice I lost me. People pool at my feet but don't know me, because I don’t know me. I long to know “ Who am I?” Alexis Y. 03/02/2021

I haven't met you face to face, but your character shows in your poems, a kind soul who thinks of others before herself. A loyal friend who I would trust with any secret. So this I know of you, and that you are steadfast in your faith. I'm happy to know you Alexis Y. but one day we might still meet. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I think there are times we all ask that important question. Mind you I might have time to answer it if I had all that money *lol*. I enjoyed your contemplative piece. Hugs Rick.

Aren't we are searching this very questions in midst of our responsibilities. We are soul, we forget. How much do we ponder about this pertinent question. Who am I. Why am I doing what I am doing. You made me think.

Great job here Alexis. I think most people around the world could ask this question no matter how many kids they have or don't have. You can have beauty, brains and seeming success but still have that knawing feeling inside that can't be filled. That's because we were all created with a little spot inside thst only God can fill. It's just for Him. No one and nothing else can ever take His place. Once you know Whose you are you know Who you are. Good stuff. God Bless, JB

Hi Alexis, It is quite possible to become lost in the spotlight, if one doesn't have a solid sense of self and personal values. Interesting and well expressed poem. :)

Unfortunately, fame and fortune are often deceivers. You have shown so well the price of losing one's identity. Well-written.

Fame and fortune can somehow steal your identity as to who you actually are, you can become lost in a crowded wilderness. Tom
