Who Am I
Who am I …
Do I want to know
Have I tasted Life
Have I tried to grow
Have I seen the world
Shipped out to sea
Climbed mountains, braved jungles
Admired gardens, planted trees
How about Space, the Moon; what of Mars
Am I content with my earthbound, late-model car
Treasures of the deepest oceans, exotic species
Are my liquid treasures poured in a tavern's bar
Masterpieces of art, paintings and sculptures
Have I viewed them up-close and real myself
Or surrendered meekly to laziness' lure
Perusing magnificence from a dusty tome on my shelf
The theater, the cinema, the grand concert hall
Libraries, museums, conservatories as well
All of these beckon; their myriad mysteries call
To me, hunched over my notepad, under the spell
Of a poetic Muse, locked inside my familiar Shell
Dreaming up new worlds, beyond 'Merely Far'
Penning their glory to readers, one and all
Breathing deep, discovering myself -- my pen, my Lodestar
