WHISPERS IN THE LEAVES

He lived where silence made its home
In a house of creaks and dust and stone
No letters came, no voices stayed
Just shadows dancing through the day
Then one soft knock, a bloom in hand
A stranger smiled, said, “It’s been planned”
He said, “Not mine,” she said, “It’s free”
And left him with a mystery

And he said, “Why me, who’d even care?”
But he felt the warmth hanging in the air

Now he hears whispers in the leaves
Words like rain upon his grief
Wisdom bloomed from silent seed
And found a voice where none would speak
