Whispering

leaning heavily on his arm
they walked
walked
her burden heavy her spirit
soaring
life inside pushing to get out
deliberate steps
heads together they walked the path
under spring trees
whispering
stopping to wait and count
wanting to be outside
she put her hand in his
he loved her
taking her pain the best he could
they stopped to breathe
and walked
