Whip-Poor-Will

Whip-Poor-Will, come sing for me
   Under the whispering pine

That stands forlorn from early morn
   'Til grey of evening sky

Be pure and gentle as you may
   For you alone can bring

A saddened heart the ecstacy
   Of every note you sing

Great work..The rhythm, flow and style of this one is wonderful..I also enjoy the song of the Whip-Poor-Will..In the summer we have one or maybe more that sing to us at dusk and at dawn..Thanks for your kind review..Sara

This is beautiful Terry - I've never heard a whip - poor -will (not native to my part of the world) but I can imagine it's song thru your words.

Thanks, Ann !! Whenever I hear a whip-poor-will I remember an old song by Hank Williams. I'll always love Johnny Tillotson's version. Here's the link to Hank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkztDzpTHKA
