Whims and Fancy

Whims and fancy
Has taken over our brains
No more holistic living
The world has gone insane
It all about fast cars, fast travel
Fast yachts, fast bucks
You soon forget
That travelling so fast
You have lost track
And simplicity is now under attack
Struggling at the back

For whims and fancy
Is our new master
And to it we must comply
On a pointless travel
Clouding the vision
Moving away from the glorious
Moving away from the divine
Chasing after the frivolous
With an unconscious mind
From what is ideal
From what we can feel
A joy in the heart
Of which we can impart
To all those around us
To create trust
Of love and kindness
Not wilful blindness
in a whirl of desires
Moving away from idealism
At a cost.
Embalmed in obsession
With a vision lost
May we be redeemed
Once we realize
That not ever gain
Is worth its cost.

All that fast living...much has come to a standstill.

Good you think so, haven't quite got to grips of writing songs, but I guess there is a rhythm there, thanks for the visit.

Thank you for this insightful view of our 'today' I really enjoyed reading it although the truth of it made me sad. My own whims and fancies have been diluted by time (I am 86 years old now) but they still haunt me sometimes Kif

I am trying to stay calm and let wild chases a thing of the past.
