While We Are Sleeping
.
With songs at bedtime
moss covered carpets soften
sounds of night music
Soft is the cadence of dark
as it bewitches the night
While we take our rest
Little frogs slide down moonbeams
And croak with delight
taking a carnival ride
under a full moon
I listen and hear
each cricket chirp in the dark
chatter and splatter,
as they splash their tiny feet
in pools of cool moonlit dew
Like laughing children
insects are playing their harps
and dancing with joy
long past the midnight hour,
while all the world is sleeping
