While the Sun Is Our Friend

Even the most luminous petal
of the enviable rose
will share its magnificence 
                        for such a short time

As such, we must appreciate
each moment of its glory
for even from the most noble,
                 petals do whither and fall

Like the rose in full bloom
we must shine every day
and live every second
                while the sun is our friend
