Notes About The Poem

While It Lasts

The young fawns are frolicking on the lawn,
nipping and jumping while they are at play
and the doe, with her patience, watches on.

If I remain quiet then they may stay.
I just love this view from my deck today.

The summer will be gone too soon I fear
and with it will go my visiting deer.
