Which Way To Go

Which Way to Go

The loneliness weighs heavy
It is cold upon my heart
My soul is almost gone from me
Saying “It is time for us to part.”

The true love of my life
Was lost by circumstance
I cannot live without him
And it gives me not a chance

And I have cried so many tears
That my heart cried out in despair,
“Please you have to stop this,
No one said that life is fair.”

Who knows about the heart?
And how much it can endure
I know only one thing now
My love for him was pure.

But now he is out of reach
And I tend my broken heart
My soul still wants to go
It says we have to part.

So do I listen to my heart?
Or take heed of my old soul?
I pray I find an answer
Then I shall know which way to go.

I relate to the need to find a comforting answer for such a loss. A very well expressed poem on the wave of emotion that we long to heal
