Which Way Do You Pray
Where inside your prayer life
Do you find that you are at
Do you make it clear as you bend Gods ear
What you say is what you meant
Do you toss requests to Heaven
In hopes that they will stick
And before too long you move along
Forgetting most of them
Or do you wake up each new morning
And thank him for this day
Saying keep an eye on me in word and deed
In all decisions that I make
Do you thank God for your meals
After you've commenced to stuffing face
With a good food, good meat, good God let's eat
And consider that saying grace
Or do you pray dear Father save me
Mostly from myself
And may your kingdom come your will be done
This day above all else
Do you tell those you know with little hope
That prayers are on the way
Then in the next blink forget the whole thing
And go merrily on your way
Or do you give God thanks with all your might
In every circunstance
From the moment that you wake up
Till the time you lay down your head
Do you kneel at night at your bedside
And think about your aching knees
With a quick amen you jump right in
And in seconds you're sound asleep
Or do you always pray for others
That salvation will abound
That they'll see the light in Jesus Christ
The only true light that counts
So when you pray do you know which way
That you bend your knees
Are your prayer days filled with praise
Or are they given out selfishly
