Notes About The Poem
I wote this poem for my aunt Miriam.
She has always suffered from insomnia. Unfortunately, she contracted Covid. Thankfully, she recovered. Covid left her with Colitis. Any form of stress triggers her colitis. This poem will hopefully calm her worries and get a good night's rest .
Where the Ocean Brings You Peace DHR
So close your eyes
and let the quiet hold you,
like the gentle arms of the sea.
Walk slowly down the quiet beach,
where the sky and water meet.
Feel the warm sand under your toes, soft and golden as it moves below.
Step where the waves just touched the shore,
Water washing over your tired feet,
then sliding back in a calm retreat.
Hear the waves as they rise and fall, their steady, calming call.
The waves splash as they meet the rocks, a peaceful sound that never stops.
Breathe in the salt air, fresh and clean. Feel the cool mist on your face. Feel the ocean breeze through your hair, the quiet waiting there.
Breathe in slow…
let the calm fill your chest.
Breathe out slow…
let go of the unrest.
Let your worries drift away,
like footprints in the sand.
Let the water take what feels too heavy,
as the wide ocean carries your worries away,
leaving your heart a little lighter today.
Stand there in the fading light,
feel the day turn into night.
Hear the waves steady and deep,
like a promise the ocean keeps.
And when you leave that quiet shore may you feel lighter than before.
And when you close your eyes to sleep, may that gentle calm be yours to keep.
And whenever life feels hard to bear, just remember this place is there…
where the waves still know your name, and peace is waiting just the same.
And if you listen closely enough,
you can almost hear the ocean
telling you to let go and get some rest
