Where No One Waits

I no longer want answers.
I no longer want signs.
only to walk
to the end of this thought
where maybe,
someone,
will light a candle.

and if no one is there,
I will sit there
with all my thoughts
and hold them in my arms,
as a mother holds
the child she can no longer save.

because in the end
the shadow of the One who thinks
is not a punishment.
it is a blessing
for those who have never been welcomed at the table.
