Where Lies the Hope

Then...
Things were easy
 A n rowo jaye
A n dunnu...
Life was simply rosy...
We rejoiced at waste...
Where lies the hope?

Now...
We are at a standstill
We move not
We are waiting for Godot...
Ise ti bawa mule
Bi egbe isu...
Things are rock hard
The waste of yesteryears
Are the wholesome meals
Of today...
Where lies the hope?

Tomorrow...
Looks highly bleak
As today is writeless...
Isn't today the harbinger
Of tomorrow's hues and cries?
Just as yesterday
Brought the news
Of today's woes...
Where lies the hope?

Is there hope
As you watch the horizon?
I see none...
If you see
Tell me...
... Where lies the hope?
