Where Joy Can Live On
The older I get, the faster time goes.
And things seem to scatter wherever wind blows.
I wish I could capture those moments I’ve cherished.
Replay and relive them; alas, they have perished.
They live in my mind, yes, those feelings so good,
but I want to re-FEEL them. If only I could.
I think what I’m saying is that memories
of moments most precious are like a soft breeze.
I feel them a bit, yet like wind, they blow past.
I can’t even make a MEMORY last!
I think of my mom and the party we planned
for her 80th birthday. The day turned out grand.
Her daughters and friends from far away came.
My mom was so stunned, we heard her proclaim:
The way heaven feels, it has to be this!
Tears filled her eyes as we gave her a kiss.
One day, all together, so happy we’ll be.
We’ll all be embraced so welcomingly.
Minutes of happiness will never be gone.
For time will be endless where joy can live on.
