Where Is the Moon

Where is the moon? Where is the moon as I go chasing shadows Hiding behind every cloud filled with fear Only a hint of the glow I remember Those summer nights when I knew you were near Patterns of grey on the heavens above me Worry now gathers right here in my heart Nary a star or a comet to flicker Darkness invades in these moments apart Walking alone through this evergreen valley Pine needle whispers to torment my mind Sounding so much like the song we were singing So long ago in a much better time Lyrics of love that are now disappearing Merely an echo comes ending the tune So here I am in a world chasing shadows Looking above asking where is the moon 5/22/17 Written for the “Right Here In My Heart” Poetry Contest Sponsored by Mystic Rose

By the sound of this poem, you need it to howl at. You took us with you deeper into those dark woods of rememberance Chris. I love the way it rolls off the tongue.

Oh my goodness! Chris - this is an awkward moment as I just told Darren that I hope he wins - Now this! - I can't decide between the two of you - Hmmmm! In praise of the reminiscing of the hero of your poem, a cliche comes to mind - Faint heart never won fair lady. Your word painting is so poignant. a 7+ ...Maria

Thank you Maria and welcome back. :) I'm with you, I just read Darren's poem and it blew me away. He is such a talented young poet and I only wish I could write like he does. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. :) I appreciate you Maria, so very much.

Morning Chris. I'll tell you where the moon is. The moon is waiting for you to change the mindset of impossible to possible. It is waiting for that wish upon a star. This entry is very quiet and somber. Rest easy however for that always makes for beautiful poetry. Good luck with the contest. Well done in its entirety. Honestly. Enjoy the morning and day.

Loneliness and moon seem to go together, don't they? But I guess yours has a beautiful melancholy tone that many others (read 'me') can't express :) amazing, Chris, a 7:)

Thanks so very much Jo. I think you are right, they do go together unless you are sharing the moon with someone special.

soooo.... we're competitor here in this contest. We'll see what happens :) I love yours, of course I do.... Good luck to you my friend. This moon lyric is beautiful, all your poems are. The longing, metaphor. May the moon always shine for you during the night, and the sun brighten your day.

Yep, it seems that way. But had I known you had entered the contest, I would have held back because I don't stand a chance up against your amazing poetry. :) Thanks so very much my friend. Enjoy that first place win when you get there. :)

A world chasing shadows. Looking for the moon. I read this under the glow of the moon. Looking for the sun to shine soon. And what did I find? Shadowed behind? Those linear lines? A mind..fully illuminated. A beacon so bright.
