Where Is Love

Pain steals all my energy
Overwhelming and enveloping me
Arriving uninvited, it is slow to leave

If those who are so mean to me
Were to perish unexpectedly
Would happiness then come to me?

Would pain and humiliation go away?
Would love and gentleness find its way,
To fill my soul, to remove the grey?

Or would hurt and anger keep its place
Within my heart and on my face
Keeping me from love’s kind embrace?
