Where Have You Been Keeping Him
Charlie approached the gig the same way he always did
Who is that cat? The guitar player asked. No one knew.
Want to do a train wreck? Pat, the singer, asked Charlie.
They hugged each other briefly. “My brother” he said.
Charlie had great chops, he did great in the combo.
The others felt they had never played as well.
Where have you been keeping him? Larry asked Pat.
Pat smiled, loving it that they could see Charlie too.
Charlie picked up his saxophone and gave them a wave.
It was their first and last performance with him.
