Where Have the Days Gone

As you sit and ponder
You begin to wonder
Where have the days gone?
Those carefree bygone days
Of skipping rope
Of tag and kickball
No more will you be small

Grown up now, bills to pay
Your own kids to raise
Watching as they play
No more tag or skipping rope
Video games are in their scope

Days turn into months and years
Filled with tears and many cheers
Your own kids now all grown
Planning for the unknown
Where have the days gone?

You are no longer young and new
Your grey hair your silent testimony
To your life’s journey of adulthood
So much wisdom you have gained
Yet here you sit and ponder
Where have the days gone?
Hoping that you’ve done your best
Before you go for your eternal rest.
