Where Has It Gone

Where has it gone? I had it thus...
To make bold a troubled mind.
For as you see... it's up to me
To keep the dregs in line.

I feel naked with its absence...
Unsure how to bear the cost.
Beset with want and worry...
I search for what is lost.

I peered 'neath my feathered bed
But only dust was there to see.
I checked beside the bellied stove
But naught was there to be.

Full of righteous waffling...
With mirrored judgments to process.
I alone... would cast forth stones
To rid the world of excess.

With an arrogance stoked in hubris...
I found along the shore of pride's debris...
My true companion and trusted friend...
Oh sweet hypocrisy.

                 The End

Heh-heh. "All 'good things' come to an end," they say... ~ Joe Biden (his is rapidly approaching...)
