Where Do Old Coppers Go

Is there a place where old coppers go After we hand in our gear in the last show The fleets been parked and booked off now Fuelled up for the next shift or day for new know how The uniform is for the last time put away Never again to be a daily mainstay And words used so easily then Are retired as well in the end Do you become part of a legend When you enforced the law until your end But once and while there’ll be something That connects again to the old days and back it brings So who are you now sunset has come As old ones now to sit in the sun Where memories are held high When old coppers remember their times gone by. © Paul Warren Poetry
