Did not our summer fly by fast?
Eventually, we knew she'd go,
Forgetting to remake her blooms;
Green grasses dried to ashen glow.
How happy was the month of May,
Inviting hopes for summer fun.
Just in a blink her days went by
Kidnapped by June's much closer sun.
Left to the magic of June's spell,
More beautiful the season grew.
No other time of year compares...
Oasis of our year, so true.
Pastels of flowers, velvet greens
Quick to mature through July days;
Refining fullness, but alas,
Surrendering to August's phase.
Then soon, her days too quickly flew
Unveiling thoughts of autumn's glow
Vowed to progress to winter's gray.
Where did our short-lived summer go?
