Where Are You, My Beautiful One?

Where Are You, My Beautiful One?

Where are you, my beautiful one...

Where in this night
should I search for you?

In which street,
in which house,
in which hidden room
shall I find you?

Where are you, my beautiful one?

I know they tore you away
from my wounded self...

And perhaps even your beautiful name
is now unknown to you.

By what sign
shall I find you?

You have never been separate
from my passion,
from my love,
from my life...

Sometimes they sent me searching for you
under the name of a friend,
sometimes under the name
of another familiar face.

And now,
in the loneliest place within my heart,
quietly,
alone with myself,
I search for you...

And I hear your cries...

Your silent pain
pulls me toward you.

How sad...

For years I searched for you
in a place that not only
did not bring me closer to you...

It carried me
farther and farther away.

Now,
deep inside my wounded heart,
I hear your voice.

Oh, my beautiful child...

Yes...

Who are you,
my beautiful, broken-hearted one?

You are not
anyone else.

This was the lie
they told me for years...

And I believed it.

I believed
that what I had lost
was somewhere outside of me...

Somewhere far away
from the land of my loneliness.

I know...

And I ask you to forgive me.

Forgive me
for being away from you...

Away from you...

My very existence.

Away from you...

My beautiful child.

Do you remember?

Years have passed...

And now,
as I turn my head back,

I remember everything
they did to your wounded body...

And to that beautiful face of yours...

Those blind-hearted,
soulless, cruel ones.

Yes...

They struck you.

And they left.

But you remained...

You remained
with years of wounds.

Yet the deepest wound
was the one I gave you.

I abandoned you
among those cruel ones.

And perhaps this wound of abandonment
hurt you even more,
leaving you more broken and powerless
than those who brought you down.

Forgive me...

Forgive me...

And let me...

Hold you in my arms.

Let me place a kiss
upon your cheek...

Oh, beautiful one...

The one left alone
inside those cold rooms.

If you do not forgive me,
I no longer have the strength to remain.

I too became alone,
without ever imagining
that such a day would come.

If you do not forgive me,
I will die...

A death more painful than loneliness.

A death that will rise from my heart
and carry my soul away.

Forgive me...

My beloved one.

Let me hold your hand...

And together
let us walk away...

Away from these people
without breath,
without life.

Let us step onto a road
where, like the mad and the lost,

we bring back once again
the passion of living
to our hearts.

Let us laugh...

Without fear.

Let us dance...

Without fear.

Let us fight...

Without fear.

Let us drown...

Drown...

Within ourselves.

Come...

Let us go...

My dearest soul.

Fary, a powerful emotive poem. Full of grief and loss, so well penned.
