Where Are You

Where are you my love?
I've searched high and low,
I've looked for you everywhere.
I've even looked in my dreams.

When we first met we were
kids.I couldn't stand you at
first. You were the annoying
little neighbor,You were my
best friend.We did everything
together.In hindsight I always
Ioved you even at a young age.
Before I knew what love was.

We went through the stage
when you called me a funny
looking girl, and I called you
everything related to a mean
and nasty ole boy!

We were falling in love then
we just didn't know it.
By the time we got to middle
school we were already dating.

Our lives changed in eighth
grade.Your dad was in the
army and you had to move
to another country. Although
we were young I knew you
were the one for me. I wass
heartbroken. You told me to
wait for you. And you would
come and find me when you
could.

Baby I've waited for you my
entire life. You never came,
And I'm still waiting………...

Such yearning beauty of sadness, Alexis. Many of us have felt this profound separation of loneliness from a soulmate. Excellent poem, my dear friend. Many smiles and smiles of loving hugs always.

omg, so sad. Is it true?? I have a slightly similar story but I did not know my "romeo" for very long when he left. I really enjoyed seeing this one, Alexis.

Hi Alexis, my first love was at sixteen - he was going back to Scotland with his parents (also sixteen) but wanted to marry me and take me with him -I was heartbroken after both sets of parents explained we were both far too young - and so he left! I love this poem and it is certainly a fave! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
