Notes About The Poem
In a world shadowed by fear, confusion, and chaos, Where We Are Headed reflects what I see and feel today a place where selfishness and blindness can lead us astray. Yet within this darkness, I wanted to capture the resilience of the human spirit, the hope that persists, and our shared capacity to rise above hatred and injustice. This poem is my humble offering to the pursuit of justice, empathy, and peace a reminder that even in uncertain times, light can be found, and we can rise together.

Where are We Headed

The air is thick with shifting times,
freedom a ghost, drowned in silent crimes; hope trembles thin, like fragile rain, a world unraveling in quiet pain.

Once dusk was porchlight, voices near, children chased fireflies without fear.

Now lies march louder than the truth, chaos blinds the searching youth, leading them blind to bitter truths; selfish hearts and narcissistic eyes.

The earth moans under shifting skies, rivers boil, and oceans rise;
storms like warnings scream and crash, while greed spreads fast in every flash.

Speech is hushed, then picked apart a whisper where it should be heart; hatred sprouts where kindness grew, a bitter bloom we never knew.

We stumble blind toward unknown ends, as truth dissolves and reason bends; still we wonder, still we try, to see through smoke, to hear the cry.

But walls will fall the old will rust,
truth will rise from ash and dust.
Rivers cut what stone defies;
we keep our song and

WE WILL RISE.
WE WILL RISE.
WE WILL RISE.

We walk with names, not lines, in hand, we stitch old wounds with small demands; we trade their papers for a name, we hold each other through the blame.

Let them draw borders, stamp their claims, let fear fan torches, light their flames; we’ll be the tide that breaks those lies, the louder voice that never dies.

Peace is not a coin to spend,
it is a birthright, without end.
No law, no lie, no leader’s cries
can steal the flame that in us lies.

So bend your ear to softest sound
the cough, the laugh, the feet on ground; our stubborn love will pay the price, our small hands gather up the light.

WE WILL RISE.
WE WILL RISE.
WE WILL RISE
and this time, we rise fierce and unstoppable
