When Your Silence Meant 'Yes'

We travelled through the noisy streets Staring at those buildings of old I marveled at these our feats That before were seldom told My heart spoke and yours listened Yet no words were needed The response you gave was in the air Yet produced no symphony or sound I heard it all, loud and clear And in it a new joy I found I smiled and you wondered why Then I saw from the corner of my eye That you closed your eyes, sighed and smiled For ‘twas true – no one lied or pried The ‘yes’ was said silent but loud And the friendship made me proud
